Breakout 1: Level 1 Essentials of Cost Report Preparation

A hands-on workshop covering the fundamental components of the hospital cost report and Medicare reimbursement. This focused training will include step-by-step guidance through all the primary cost report worksheets as well as an emphasis on critical Medicare reimbursement concepts.

Breakout 2: Level 2 Advanced Reimbursement Strategies
A session covering intermediate reimbursement issues and is designed for individuals who have previously had some exposure to the hospital cost report.  Our Advanced Reimbursement Strategies training features various topics applicable to both PPS and CAH hospitals.

Breakout 1: CAH Track
Objectives: The CAH Track will focus on allowable costs, cost allocations, and optimal operational strategies and challenges specific to CAH hospitals.   This session will also include understanding potential issues and opportunities with Medicare bad debts, and consider possible opportunities under various clinic strategies. The following content is information likely to be covered in these sessions.

  • Clinic strategies

Breakout 2:   PPS & Academic Medical Center Track
Objectives: The PPS and Academic Medical Center Track will include various information for these types of hospital designations.

General Session:  Home Health
(PDGM) & SNF (PDPM) Reimbursement & Payment updates
Objectives: This session will cover recent reimbursement changes for home health agencies and skilled nursing facilities.  Additionally, the change to CMS’ Patient Driven Grouping Model (PDGM) and Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) will also be covered in this session, and will include highlights of the changes and the potential impact that these change could have on your operations from a clinical and financial perspective.

Advanced Payment Models Panel

Objectives: This panel session will provide an update on current trends in risk-based care.  Missouri providers who are currently participating in advanced payment models will share practical insights on topics such as contract management, target pricing, cash flow, reconciliation and revenue recognition.  Providers currently participating in advanced payment models and those considering their options will benefit from this session.

Advanced Reimbursement Strategies Panel

Objectives: This session will include a discussion with the provider panelists around urban and rural issues, rural designations and their impact to operations, clinic and other reimbursement strategies, and state issues such as Medicaid DSH and MO HealthNet OP changes.

Medicare Cost Report Appeals

Objectives: This course will provide a brief overview of the Medicare cost report appeal process.  It will feature descriptions of current issues appealed by Medicare providers and discuss the applicability of the appeal process to Worksheet S-10 audit adjustments.
